Loft in El Born
Behind a discreet stone façade on a small carrer in the Born, a 1788 storehouse was hollowed and re-imagined in 2022 by Arquitectura-G.
The building was, in its first life, a merchant's storehouse, and the volumes are extraordinary: six-metre Catalan vaults across the principal living room, full-height steel-framed doors to the bedrooms, and a small interior patio that introduces light into the deepest part of the plan.
The 2022 intervention by Arquitectura-G is precise and quiet: polished concrete floors, oiled-iron fittings, custom oak millwork. The kitchen is a single block of Carrara marble; the baths are micro-cement, lit from above.
Two bedrooms, two baths, a study, and the wine cellar in what was the merchant's locked storeroom. A rare property in a quarter where rare properties are spoken for before they appear.
